If you have unwanted body hair on your face, back, legs, bikini line or underarms and find normal hair removal techniques like shaving, waxing, and electrolysis time-consuming or unpleasant, then you should consider professional hair removal.
There are several different methods of temporary depilation which removed the hair from the root and lasts for several days to several weeks:
- Shaving which is done manually with a razor
- Waxing is suitable for legs, bikini line and eyebrows and a hot or cold layer of wax is applied and then porous strips are applied and ripped off removing the hair
- Depilatory creams for legs, bikini line and underarms chemically dissolve hair
- Sugaring which is similar to waxing but with a sticky paste
- Depilatators usually work by a series of rotating discs which catch the hair and pull it out. The hair must be quite long for this method to work and it can be quite painful
- Plucking and tweezing usually reserved the individual hairs on the face or ears.
- Threading is where a thin strand of cotton is usually held between one hand and the teeth. The other hand takes the central part of the strand and twists it. By skilful manipulation, hairs can be caught in the crossover between the strands and plucked out.
If you are looking for permanent hair removal then you should try the following:
- Electrolysis which is used for facial hair by inserting a thin needle into the hair follicle which transmits an electrical charge causing the hair to fall out. The drawbacks of electrolysis that it is painful, particularly in sensitive areas such as the face, and as each hair follicle has to be treated individually it takes a long time to treat large areas.
- Laser removal is suitable for most areas of the body. The laser deactivates the hair follicles causing each hair to fall out. After a few treatments whole areas of the body can be left permanently free of hair.
