Breast Lifting in Spain
Breast uplift surgery (mastopexy) firms and lifts the breasts to give a fuller appearance to your bust line. Many women have a breast lift because pregnancy and breast feeding have left them with stretched skin and less volume in their breasts. This surgery does not increase the size of your breasts, and is commonly done at the same time as breast augmentation when a bigger bust is desired and the firmness but also the volume of your breasts will be increased.
Breast augmentation and lifting usually takes between 2 to 3 hours to complete using a general anaesthetic and normally includes an overnight stay at the hospital. The most common way of lifting the breast involves three separate incisions: one around the nipple; another vertical incision from the bottom edge of the nipple to the crease under the breast and a third horizontal incision from beneath the breast following the natural curve of the breast crease.
The surgeon removes the excess breast skin and then shifts the nipple and areola to a higher position. The skin above the areola is brought down and together beneath it. Sensation is retained because the nipples and areolas remain attached to underlying mounds of tissue and this also allows breast-feeding.
You will feel tired and sore for a few days after the surgery with some slight swelling and bruising. You will have a light dressing which will need to be kept in place and dry for two weeks. The scars will be firm and pink for at least six weeks and may remain the same size for several months; they may take up to two years to fade.
Most patients are able to go back to work a week after breast lifting.
Although you can walk about and do very light activities the next day it is advisable not to do anything strenuous for 7-10 days. The average recovery time is between 1-2 weeks.
