Tummy Tucks in Spain

A flat and well-toned abdomen is something many of us strive for through exercise and weight control. Sometimes these methods cannot achieve our goals.
If you have a normal body weight but an abdomen that protrudes or is loose and sagging which you have tried to correct with diet or exercise you could be the ideal candidate for abdominoplasty.
A tummy tuck is not a substitute for weight loss or an appropriate exercise programme. It cannot correct stretch marks (although these may be removed or improved if they are located on the areas of excess skin that will be removed). Although results of this procedure are technically permanent, the outcome can be greatly diminished by significant fluctuations in your weight. So if you are planning substantial weight loss or considering becoming pregnant it is advisable to postpone a tummy tuck.
Your plastic surgeon will explain in detail the risks associated with surgery, and you will be asked to sign consent forms to ensure that you fully understand the procedure and any risks or potential complications.
If your abdominoplasty is performed on an outpatient basis, be sure to arrange for someone to drive you to and from surgery and to stay with you for at least the first night following the tummy tuck. The choice of medication administered throughout the procedure includes intravenous sedation and general anesthesia: your doctor will recommend the best choice for you.
A full tummy tuck involves a horizontal incision being made in the area between the pubic hairline and navel, through which weakened abdominal muscles are repaired and sutured and excess fat, tissue and skin is removed. The shape and length of the incision will be determined by the degree of correction necessary. A second incision around the navel may be necessary to remove excess skin in the upper abdomen. Sutures, skin adhesives, tapes or clips will be used close the skin incisions and you may be wrapped in an elastic bandage or a compression garment to minimize swelling and to support your abdomen as it heals. A small, thin tube may be temporarily placed under the skin to drain any excess blood or fluid that may collect.
The final results of your tummy tuck may be initially obscured by swelling and your inability to stand fully upright until internal healing is complete, but within a week or two you should be upright and delighted with your new slimmer profile.
