Aerobics includes a range of movements and exercises that will work on all areas of your body ranging from gentle jogging on the spot to star jumps, lunges, twists, stretches and tummy crunches.

Aerobics classes in Marbella are offered at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels so make sure you choose the right one for your level of fitness. 

There are many different types of aerobics including high and low impact, body conditioning, step aerobics, kick aerobics, dance aerobics and body pump. If you feel any pain during a class or feel unhappy with something you are being asked to do then stop.

A regular aerobic workout will:

  • strengthen your heart and lungs by making them work harder.  Regular classes helps lower your blood pressure and cholesterol
  • stimulate the circulation of blood and lymph around your body to strengthen your immune system
  • burn calories and reduce body fat
  • raise serotonin levels and stimulate your brain to release endorphins to give you a natural high, easing stress or anxiety
  • increase your body strength so you are less prone to injury
  • shape and tone of your body.

An aerobics class usually lasts about 45 minutes to one hour and you should wear clothes that allow you to move freely like leggings, light tracksuit trousers and a t-shirt will be just as good. Trainers with sweat-absorbing socks are also a good idea.

You should not do aerobics if:

  •  you have a history of heart or respiratory problems
  • you have problems with your joints
  • you have recently undergone surgery
  • you are prone to or recovering from injury

If you are pregnant stick to low-impact aerobics - you will probably find a class specially for mums-to-be. A specially trained instructor will make sure you only do exercises that are appropriate.
