fitness in spainNowadays we are all much more aware of the need to recognize the importance of physical fitness than ever before. We are encouraged to maintain a minimum level of health and fitness to keep our body looking and feeling good, and which enables you to enjoy your daily lifestyle.

Health and fitness is determined by what we eat, how we live our lives, our choice of leisure pursuits and what we do to keep physically fit.  We need a certain amount of exercise to keep healthy, regardless of lifestyle, age or physical ability.

In addition to eating a well balanced diet you should choose an exercise regime that best suits your needs, your lifestyle and is based on activities that you enjoy. Getting fit means a change in your lifestyle and a regular exercise programme for the long term.

Many people  join a gym, go to a dance studio for a series of exercise classes, pilates or yoga or vow to walk everywhere. But after a short time they lose the interest and the motivation.

The key factors to getting fit and staying that way are:

  • You must be prepared to change your lifestyle and follow a balanced diet.

  • Decide on an exercise routine which suits you and is one that you can realistically stick to in the long term. As a general rule the recommended exercise regime is at least twenty minutes of sensible exercise (increases your pulse, heart rate and breathing)  three times a week

  • Make time to exercise

  • Be committed

  • Be realistic about what you can and will achieve as getting fit will take time
