personal trainer with studentIf you are overweight, unfit or feeling tired, lethargic, lacking in energy and demotivated then you will benefit from personal fitness training - especially if you do not want to go to the gym and want to try a different, fresh approach to improving your health and fitness.

Personal trainers work on a one-on-one basis with clients either in a gym or in their home. If you employ a personal trainer they will assess your level of physical fitness and help you set and reach fitness goals. They will also demonstrate various exercises and help you improve exercise techniques.

Most personal trainers also offer advice on how to modify your lifestyle outside the gym to improve your fitness. Personal trainers should have certification to begin working with individual clients but group fitness instructors may begin without a certification, but are often encouraged to become certified by their employer.

A personal trainer is qualified to coach you to achieve a desired level of fitness.  They do not just show you how to work the machines in a gym, but should also have the skills and experience to help you reach a fitness level that is appropriate for your body.

A personal training session should begin by a thorough examination of your lifestyle covering your diet, how much regular exercise you take and what level of fitness you hope to achieve. The personal trainer can then work out a fitness programme tailored to your needs by offering optimised workouts for your present level of fitness. By gradually increasing these you should see and feel the results throughout your body over a period of time.

A personal trainer should also be able to supply a nutrition plan that is specific to you offering information on diets for either weight loss or gain.

A good personal trainer should be considered as a fitness mentor and the relationship between client and trainer should make the gym experience rewarding - rather than something to be dreaded.
